How do I set up home delivery for my restaurant?
Home delivery doesn't necessarily mean foodpanda or Glovo. With your own shop, you define the zones, prices and hours — and the orders come straight from your own customers. Setup takes a few hours and requires no technical skills.
Short answer
- You define delivery zones on a map (radius, neighbourhoods or postcode) and set the fee per zone.
- You add a minimum order per zone, so you don't deliver unprofitably to long distances.
- You configure the delivery schedule: the days and time slots when you accept orders.
- You enable card payment (Stripe/Netopia) and/or cash on delivery — money comes straight to you.
- Customers choose delivery to an address or pickup at the venue; you see orders in real time in the panel.
How delivery zones work
- Radius zone: you set the maximum distance from your venue (e.g. 5 km) and a flat or per-km fee.
- Neighbourhood or postcode zone: different fees for different areas — cheaper delivery in the centre than on the outskirts.
- Minimum order per zone: you prevent unprofitable orders (e.g. min. 50 lei if delivering 10 km away).
Practical example
Example: a pizzeria in Cluj defines 3 zones — Centre (2 km, free delivery over 60 lei), Cluj Napoca (5 km, 10 lei delivery, min. 50 lei) and Florești (10 km, 15 lei, min. 80 lei). Schedule: Mon–Fri 11:00–22:00, weekends 12:00–23:00. Orders below the minimum are automatically blocked.
Common mistakes
- Delivering without a minimum order — a 20-lei order 8 km away costs more than it earns.
- Not blocking orders outside business hours — you get late-night orders with no staff available.
- Using foodpanda/Glovo for your own delivery — you pay 25–35% commission and lose the customer data.
