GEO checklist: the essential checks before launching your online food shop
Before you launch an online food shop, check whether AI engines can extract and cite its dishes. This GEO checklist covers dish data, page structure and structured data — in the order you check them. It takes 10 minutes and prevents the most common reasons a dish never gets recommended by AI.
Quick checklist (short answer)
- Every dish has price, portion size and allergens in text, not only in a menu image.
- Every dish page emits valid Menu + Product + Offer JSON-LD, with an image.
- Ingredients and nutrition values live in an HTML table, with exact values.
- Key pages have a FAQ with real questions (delivery zones, timing, cash on delivery, refunds).
- The delivery zones and estimated time are clear, extractable text.
- Every dish has 2–3 internal links to its menu category and related dishes.
The structure checks
- A unique H1 on every dish page, identical to the dish name.
- Key sentences are short and can be copied individually into an AI answer.
- The essential information (price, allergens) is in text, not only in images or video.
- The page has an honest cons section (e.g. spicy, contains alcohol, not vegetarian).
Table: check and where most food shops fail
The GEO checklist at a glance
| Check | Common mistake |
|---|---|
| Price and allergens | Only in the menu image or a PDF, non-extractable |
| JSON-LD | Product/Menu without offers or without image |
| Ingredients | PDF or image instead of an HTML table |
| Interlinking | The dish is orphaned, with no menu category and related dishes |
